About the position

Bob Evans Farms is seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our Operations Production team in Hillsdale, Michigan. This position is integral to our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency in our manufacturing processes. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of all electrical systems within the facility, specifically focusing on systems that operate at 480 volts and below. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving, ensuring that all electrical equipment operates smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the Journeyman Electrician will install and monitor the performance of electrical equipment, identifying hazards and making necessary adjustments or replacements. The successful candidate will be adept at diagnosing and repairing a variety of equipment, utilizing appropriate testing equipment and tools. This includes working with control hardware such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces). Collaboration with machine operators is essential to address automation needs and enhance operational efficiency. The position also involves reading and interpreting electrical drawings and blueprints, fabricating or welding parts as necessary, and leading or training other electricians or maintenance personnel in best practices and techniques. Routine and preventative maintenance tasks will be part of the job, ensuring that all facility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, are in optimal working condition. The Journeyman Electrician will promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices, contributing to a culture of safety and efficiency within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Install and monitor performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments or replacements.
  • Create, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair a variety of equipment in the plant.
  • Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate testing equipment and tools.
  • Partner with machine operators on equipment troubleshooting automation needs to increase efficiency.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and blueprints.
  • Fabricate/weld parts as needed.
  • Leads, trains and/or guides other electricians or qualified maintenance personnel in applicable procedures and techniques.
  • Perform building, routine and preventative maintenance, including repairs to facility equipment - mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic and/or hydraulic.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of both equipment and supplies.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs other jobs duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Possession of a current State of Michigan Master Electrician certification, and maintain certification as required.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and 5S (including Kaizen and Gemba).
