About the position

The Journeyman Electrician role at Aerotek involves installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in an industrial setting. This position is crucial for ensuring the functionality of machinery and production equipment, particularly during the transition of operations from Oklahoma to Michigan. The electrician will work closely with a maintenance team to diagnose issues and implement solutions, utilizing their expertise in PLC troubleshooting and electrical installations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and production equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team members to diagnose malfunctioning machinery and discuss possible solutions.
  • Plan and install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Utilize a laptop and HMI to interface with various process logic controllers to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with production equipment.
  • Make backups of programs, parameters, and machine data as needed.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and proximity sensors.
  • Locate replacement parts necessary to repair equipment.
  • Adjust functional parts of production equipment to achieve functionality and peak performance.
  • Start production equipment to test performance.
  • Utilize a variety of common hand tools and power tools.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for parts and machines.
  • Assist mechanics when needed and perform mechanical duties within the individual's ability.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on time according to the provided schedule.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in an industrial setting.
  • Journeyman's Card (State or UAW, current or expired).
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical systems on industrial machinery.
  • Experience with 3 phase motors and 480V.
  • Facilities electrical knowledge.
  • PLC Troubleshooting (Allen Bradley).
  • Blueprint reading and schematics.
  • Ability to replace faulty electrical components of machines.
  • Experience utilizing a laptop and HMI to interface with various process logic controllers.
  • Skill in debugging electrical issues.
  • Industrial and facilities knowledge, with experience performing electrical work on machines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Festo Blocks (cylinders) is a plus.
