About the position

The Journeyman Lineman position at Wake Electric Membership Corporation involves supervising and coordinating line crew activities in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution facilities. This role is essential for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of power line crews, particularly in the absence of the Crew Leader. The position requires hands-on work in erecting and repairing distribution and transmission lines across various voltage classes, making it a critical role within the cooperative's operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a power line crew in safe and proper construction and maintenance practices.
• Coordinate work activities and provide on-the-job training for crew members.
• Ensure the safe use and maintenance of all tools and equipment required for the job.
• Participate in on-call rotation as assigned.
• Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings, vendor schools, and special training sessions as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• 5 plus years of experience in the field required.
• Experience with overhead and underground electrical systems preferred.
• Ability to pass a drug screening, background check, and post-offer Fit for Duty test.
