About the position

The Journeyman Lineman position at Floresville Electric Light & Power System is responsible for the safe construction and maintenance of the electric system, ensuring reliable power distribution to customers under various weather conditions. The role involves operating heavy equipment, troubleshooting electrical issues, and mentoring junior staff while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain electric systems for customers in all weather conditions.
• Maintain new and existing primary and secondary lines.
• Provide reliable distributed power and restore power in a timely manner.
• Operate various equipment such as digger trucks, crane trucks, and bucket trucks.
• Cut and trim trees as necessary for line maintenance.
• Install, connect, and disconnect electric meters and build meter loops.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems and set poles as needed.
• Participate in daily tailboard discussions and may lead discussions in the absence of the Foreman.
• Take after-hours on-call duties as scheduled.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years electric distribution construction experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of electric distribution system principles and design.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain composure during heavy workloads and work extra hours when needed.
• Ability to work independently and maintain safety conditions.
• Completed training in basics of electricity and CPR/First Aid certification.
• Mastery of items listed in Appendix A.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL driver's license (or obtained within 90 days of employment) with an acceptable driving record.
