About the position

The Journeyman Pipefitter at Spectrum Mechanical & Plumbing Contractors, LLC is responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. This role emphasizes teamwork and quality, contributing to the company's success while providing opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Cut and thread pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.
• Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and tools.
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by brazing, cementing, soldering, pressing, and threading joints.
• Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and observation.
• Measure and mark pipes for proper installation.
• Lay out pipe systems, supports, and related equipment following plans, details, and specifications.
• Select pipe sizes and types and related materials according to specifications and details.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including material usage, measurements, and completed tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of piping and/or mechanical construction field experience
• OSHA 10 certification
• OSHA 30 certification (preferred)
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong math skills and aptitude for math
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Knowledge of piping systems being installed (chilled water, heated water, steam, and condensate)
• Ability to work outside in extreme weather and at various heights
• Required hand tools to perform as a pipefitter
