About the position

The Journeyman Refrigeration position at CoolSys involves the installation and support of refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. The role emphasizes adherence to customer specifications, building codes, and proper piping practices, while providing opportunities for ongoing education and training in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Install refrigeration systems following customer specifications and applicable building codes.
• Provide support on construction jobs by piping cooler boxes and refrigeration cases, including necessary electrical wiring.
• Install pipe hangers as directed by the foreman.
• Assist in welding and slip hosing copper pipes, and support the foreman as needed on the job.
• Handle cooler box coils and install new supermarket refrigeration systems or remodel existing ones.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of electrical systems and ability to wire installations.
• Knowledge of carpentry and refrigeration systems.
• Experience with plumbing and pipe fittings, and ability to pipe refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints related to refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing.
• Ability to hang evaporation coils and install overhead hangers.
• Proficient in using hand and power tools with good mechanical skills.
• Knowledge of job site safety and ability to oversee work activities to ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with hands-on field experience in commercial refrigeration, electrical, and/or fixtures construction.
• EPA Certification (Type II).
• Experience in copper brazing and market remodeling.
• Good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in HVAC-R systems.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and techniques for refrigeration systems.
