About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CAD technician to join our team. In this role, you will utilize CAD software to create, edit, and modify detailed 2D and 3D drawings for electrical equipment manufacturing, adhering to client specifications. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring precision in all aspects of design and drafting. The position is based in Youngstown, Brookfield, OH, with remote work options available for 20% or less of the time. The role requires a commitment to producing high-quality work while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. You will be expected to maintain and adhere to established CAD standards and templates, acquire in-depth knowledge of electrical equipment and client-specific systems, and apply industry standards and client-specific guidelines to conduit design and wire sizing. Additionally, you will review and interpret existing blueprints and construction plans, consistently produce accurate and timely CAD drawings, and independently complete CAD projects with minimal supervision. Evaluating designs for constructability and providing recommendations will also be part of your responsibilities, along with estimating material usage and creating detailed bills of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering drawings using AutoCAD for electrical builds, modification projects, and equipment upgrades.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain and adhere to established CAD standards and templates.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of electrical equipment and client-specific systems.
  • Apply industry standards and client-specific guidelines to conduit design and wire sizing.
  • Review and interpret existing blueprints and construction plans.
  • Consistently produce accurate and timely CAD drawings.
  • Independently complete CAD projects with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluate designs for constructability and provide recommendations.
  • Estimate material usage and create detailed bills of materials.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of experience drafting electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs or more, and sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to undergo and pass physical, drug, driving, and background checks.
