About the position

The Jr. Compensation Analyst will play a crucial role in researching job requirements and evaluating job positions to ensure competitive salaries within the YMCA of San Diego County. This position involves assisting in the creation and evaluation of job descriptions, utilizing market salary data to ensure fair pay among employees, and ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws.

Responsibilities

  • Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Prepare and maintain job classifications and salary scales.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys; use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Evaluate and implement job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Monitor, audit and analyze compensation practices to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines and wage and hour laws.
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team to offer fair and competitive rates to prospective employees, conducting salary analysis for job offers.
  • Participate in compensation surveys ensuring timely submissions.
  • Provide insight and promote ideas to enhance the salary structure of the organization to allow for career path visibility and appropriate grade levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Compensation Analyst.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with the ability to create complex spreadsheets, specifically VLOOKUP.
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy is essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety & Health Institute.
