About the position

They provide essential services that promote public health, safety, and wellness throughout the region. We are looking for a Jr Full Stack PHP Developer for a contract-to-hire position with our client, based onsite in Cincinnati, OH. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in front-end and back-end web development, with extensive experience in CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing web applications that support the client's mission of community health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain web applications using PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Collaborate with teams to define project requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Ensure web applications are responsive, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • Maintain and manage databases, ensuring data integrity and performance using MySQL.
  • Implement best practices in full stack development, including front-end and back-end processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and security issues.
  • Document processes and maintain up-to-date records of code and system changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Full Stack PHP Developer or similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
  • Strong understanding of web development tools, frameworks, and coding best practices.
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with development tools such as PHPStorm, and web server environments like Apache.
  • Knowledge of web security protocols and best practices for securing applications.
  • Familiarity with Ajax for dynamic web content.
  • Experience with database normalization and management.
  • Knowledge of MS Access, VBA, and previous experience with MS Access to MySQL conversions is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with full stack development from user interface to backend database management.
