About the position

The Jr. Graphic Designer position is a freelance role based in Bloomfield Hills, where the selected candidate will join a nonprofit organization's internal creative and marketing team. This exciting opportunity requires the designer to report directly to the Creative Director and contribute to a variety of projects aimed at enhancing the organization's visual communication. The role is expected to start as soon as possible and will involve a commitment of 30-36 hours per week, primarily onsite on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work options available on Mondays and Fridays. The pay rate for this position ranges from $22 to $25 per hour, translating to an annual salary of approximately $45,000 to $50,000 depending on experience. As a Jr. Graphic Designer, the individual will be responsible for creating a diverse array of design assets for print, digital, and social media platforms. This includes collaborating closely with other members of the creative and marketing teams to ensure that all design work aligns with the organization's mission and goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat, and will also be familiar with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines are essential for success in this role. The designer will also need to demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to present design concepts to senior leaders and incorporate feedback from various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing/creative leadership to concept, design, and deliver a range of design assets across print, digital, social, email, etc.
  • Refine and adapt existing creative assets and partner with the marketing team to help design assets for various print and digital platforms.
  • Partner with the team's Traffic Manager and other internal stakeholders to review, refine, and deliver final design files in line with specs/requirements.
  • Present and sell design concepts to senior leaders for review and approval.
  • Take constructive feedback from internal stakeholders and make necessary revisions based on feedback/suggestions.
  • Collaborate with external vendors as needed for specific projects.
  • Utilize tools such as Asana, OneDrive, Outlook, etc. to streamline project management and collaboration within the team's workflow.

Requirements

  • Fully proficient with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational, time management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities with incredible attention to detail.
  • Highly organized self-starter with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience managing, prioritizing, and successfully completing projects within tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal team members across various departments and eager to help support/achieve their goals.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the organization's mission and role within the broader community.
