About the position

The Jr. High Math Resource Teacher is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in mathematics to help them achieve their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student learning, and collaborating with special education staff to support diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials based on students' learning styles.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles to inform instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aides and oversee their completion.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Assist in the selection of instructional materials and maintain required reports and records.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject and curriculum instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • One year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
