About the position

The Junior Interior Designer at David S. Brown Enterprises will work under the supervision of a senior designer, contributing to various phases of interior design projects. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, assisting in the selection and presentation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and preparing construction documents. The position is ideal for entry-level candidates looking to develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on varying project types.
  • Contribute to all project phases: project strategy, test fits, schematic plans, and conceptual designs.
  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting.
  • Produce graphic presentations, including 3D renderings, for client presentations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of construction documents, including plans, elevations, details, and specifications.
  • Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, product representatives, fabricators, and other vendors to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of postgraduate interior design experience.
  • Experience with workplace/multifamily projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (most recent version).
  • Strong conceptual and technical capabilities with attention to detail, experienced in construction documentation.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and visualization software.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and can work on multiple projects at once.
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Specification Software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school (CIDA).
  • Passion for sustainable practices and interest in working towards certification (LEED or WELL).
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
