This position is for a Junior Java Developer at a well-known Financial Services Company located in Des Moines, Iowa. The position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work, and is expected to last for 12 months. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team, contributing to various software engineering initiatives and process improvements. As a Junior Java Developer, you will engage in low to moderately complex initiatives, where you will identify opportunities for process improvements within software engineering. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and analyzing software engineering assignments that require research and evaluation of alternatives. You will present recommendations for resolving challenges and exercise independent judgment while developing an understanding of the company's functions, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Additionally, you will provide information to client personnel in software engineering, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required standards and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvements within Software Engineering.
  • Review and analyze basic or tactical Software Engineering assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives, related to low-to-medium risk deliverables.
  • Present recommendations for resolving low to moderately complex situations and exercise some independent judgment while developing understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide information to client personnel in Software Engineering.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 2+ years of Java development experience.
  • 2+ years of Spring boot-based application development experience.
  • Experience with Angular or related UI Framework.
  • Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies.
  • Experience with Tomcat application server.
  • Experience with MongoDB or related NoSQL database.
  • Experience with Oracle database.
  • Experience with Kafka or related Data Streaming technology.
  • Cloud certification from any cloud providers.
  • Experience with cloud native Microservices development based on Event Driven Architecture.
  • Experience with Domain Driven Design principles.
  • Experience with application non-functional requirements including Monitoring (APM tools), Logging (Splunk), Distributed tracing.
