About the position

The Jr. PLC Application Engineer is responsible for writing and modifying PLC and OIT programs for water and wastewater processes. This role involves analyzing, designing, programming, debugging, and ensuring that all PLC functionalities meet project specifications. The engineer will also provide training and support to other programmers and assist in developing departmental best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Write PLC operating programs based on control specifications and industry standards.
  • Publish concise operating instructions detailing control parameters and their effects under normal and failure conditions.
  • Provide technical assistance to verify and modify PLC programs.
  • Collaborate with various departments, consulting engineers, customers, and end-users to ensure proper system layouts and designs.
  • Analyze and interpret existing programs and documentation to identify system requirements and project modifications.
  • Ensure assignments and work schedules adhere to policy and procedures.
  • Assist in standardizing department programming practices and procedures.
  • Evaluate current procedures and recommend changes to improve efficiency in planning, documentation, and execution of development activities.
  • Function as technical leadership on projects and support larger scale projects.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
  • Assist in training other employees on relevant aspects of the job.
  • Provide weekly content and job status reports for scheduling tools.

Requirements

  • Proficient in writing PLC programs and OIT programs.
  • Strong understanding of control specifications and industry standards.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret existing programs and documentation.
  • Experience in providing technical assistance and support to clients and team members.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
