About the position

The Jr. Server Technician (Data Center) is responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting the physical conditions of data center facilities. This role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards, and performing regular facility inspections. The technician will also handle the installation and deinstallation of IT equipment, manage power distribution, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the data center.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and support physical facilities conditions in the data center.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems including piping, electrical, and mechanical components.
• Read blueprints and schematics to conduct inspections of systems and assess their working order.
• Ensure environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly.
• Perform maintenance on facility equipment such as HVAC, electrical, and security systems.
• Configure and maintain Power Distribution Units (PDU) and adjust rack power distribution as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and physical appearance of data centers and IDC/ICF rooms, including cable management.
• Perform regular facility inspections and rack and stack servers and network hardware.
• Install and deinstall IT equipment according to documented design requirements.
• Manage RMA/Warranty processing, including gathering and shipping/receiving of parts.
• Provide Layer 1 troubleshooting as needed.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of data center operations and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and security systems.
• Experience with rack and stack of servers and network hardware.
• Understanding of power distribution and management in data centers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Layer 1 troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of RMA/Warranty processes.
• Familiarity with data center safety standards.
