About the position

ASRC Federal is seeking a Junior Level Computer/Electrical Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration's Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) program. This role focuses on software development, adaptation analysis, and system integration to enhance air traffic management and efficiency at airports. The position requires a strong engineering background, particularly in real-time software design and development, and involves working with various programming languages and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide software/adaptation analysis, design/development, testing, and system integration for the TFDM program.
  • Work with the TFDM Software Development Team using C/C++, Java, XML, JavaScript, shell scripting, and database concepts.
  • Perform data collection, software installations, and workstation backup.
  • Implement code fixes, adaptation changes, and new functionality.
  • Conduct peer/code reviews.
  • Communicate technical issues with non-technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer or Electrical Engineering (Computer Science degrees are not considered).
  • Coursework in programming languages: C/C++, Java, XML, Shell Scripting, or JavaScript.
  • Basic understanding of database concepts.
  • Basic understanding of operating systems (UNIX/LINUX preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required for FAA Public Trust clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GIS Tools.
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Linux.
  • Knowledge of Ada programming language.
  • Experience with Redmine and Git.
