About the position

The Judicial Assistant I, II, III position at Davis County Justice Court involves performing a variety of complex clerical duties essential to the operations of the court. This role requires a blend of administrative skills and knowledge of court procedures, providing support to judges and court staff while ensuring efficient court operations. Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service in person and over the phone, addressing inquiries and problems using knowledge of court policies and procedures.
  • Schedules court appearances and coordinates with Prosecuting Attorneys, Defense Attorneys, County Sheriff departments, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Arranges transportation of inmates for court proceedings and schedules video hearings with various jails and the prison.
  • Performs various in-court duties for court proceedings, including typing and preparing motions, orders to show cause, and affidavits under the supervision of a judge.
  • Handles appeals and prepares documents for transfer to higher courts, informing defendants and attorneys of status.
  • Accurately posts payments received by mail and at the window to specific accounts and state surcharges.
  • Monitors accuracy of financial transactions, prepares daily deposits, and ensures accuracy of cashiers' receipts and daily cash counts.
  • Acts as back-up to other clerks by filling in as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduation (or equivalent) plus two years of full-time clerical experience for Level I.
  • High school graduation (or equivalent) and two years of full-time Court Clerk experience or administrative experience for Level II.
  • Graduation from a college or university with an Associate's degree plus three years of full-time Court Clerk experience for Level III.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in citation input, daily deposits, cash receipting, and case summary reports.
  • Experience with in-court clerk duties, including criminal hearings and small claims motions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preference for related local court experience.
  • Education or work experience with the judicial system, legal field, CORISWEB, WEBEX, SPILLMAN.
