About the position

The Judicial Case Manager II is responsible for managing a full caseload and performing a variety of case management activities. This role may also involve supervising case processing support staff. The position requires assessing case filings, interpreting court rules, monitoring case activity, and coordinating with various legal entities to ensure efficient case flow. The Judicial Case Manager II plays a crucial role in advising judicial officers and resolving technical case processing issues.

Responsibilities

  • Assess case filings to determine placement in case track/program or recommend referral to alternative case tracks.
  • Interpret and apply court rules, laws, and procedural requirements for case events and caseflow management.
  • Monitor and coordinate case activity through multiple legal events and processes.
  • Track case events/status, anticipate case flow problems, and initiate appropriate action to expedite cases.
  • Develop case management procedures for use by judges or teams.
  • Advise judicial officers regarding various case events leading to final case disposition.
  • Coordinate case activity and events with judicial officers, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and litigants.
  • Resolve technical case processing issues requiring research of case data and coordination with other agencies and courts.
  • Research case files, records, and other sources of information to ensure accuracy of case data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with the legal community and other agencies to ensure expedited case flow.
  • Enter case data into automated case management systems and maintain case files and records.

Requirements

  • One year of experience and/or training in legal case flow management.
  • One year of experience and/or training in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • One year of experience and/or training in using an automated information system for data management.
  • Knowledge of narrative report writing.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
