About the position
The Junior Accountant position at A Safe Haven Foundation is designed for recent graduates eager to begin their accounting careers in a professional setting. This role involves maintaining financial records, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, and supporting various accounting functions within the for-profit division.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Process journal entries and ensure proper documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to complete the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Review and verify invoices and assist with accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Prepare account reconciliations, including bank statements and other financial reports.
- Provide support during audits and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with NetSuite is a plus).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Internship or minimal work experience in an accounting role preferred but not required.
