About the position

The Junior Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Controller with the reconciliation of General Ledger (GL) accounts and the monthly financial close process. This position is integral to managing the accounting, bookkeeping, and general office procedures within the Cary Consolidated Accounting Office. The Junior Accounting Manager collaborates closely with accounting teammates and dealership personnel to ensure that all financial results comply with the high standards set by Hendrick Automotive Group. This role not only requires technical accounting skills but also emphasizes the importance of effective communication and teamwork within the organization. In addition to overseeing the preparation of monthly financial statements, which must be completed by the 5th of each month, the Junior Accounting Manager is responsible for making hiring and disciplinary decisions for the accounting staff. Regular reporting to upper management and maintaining effective relationships with the General Manager and other managers is essential. The position also involves overseeing payroll preparation and maintaining accurate payroll records, as well as providing necessary financial information, including the Daily Operating Report, to management. The Junior Accounting Manager ensures that appropriate controls are in place to safeguard dealership assets and is responsible for training, supervising, and assisting office staff. This role also includes overseeing inventory management, assisting with Human Resource compliance, and participating in weekly manager meetings. The Junior Accounting Manager prepares daily cash sheets, assists in the preparation of the annual budget, and ensures that all annual external audit requirements are met. Maintaining effective employee relations and ensuring that the work area is organized, clean, and safe are also key responsibilities. The position requires adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements by the 5th of the month
  • Work with upper management to make hiring and discipline decisions for accounting staff

  • Oversee preparation of payroll and payroll records
  • Provide General Manager and other managers with necessary financial information, including Daily Operating Report

  • Oversee additions and modifications to inventory
  • Assist in Human Resource compliance
  • Attend weekly manager meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in accounting
  • Prior management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of dealership documents and applicable regulations governing the automotive industry
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to learn dealership management systems, HRIS, spreadsheet software, accounting software, and inventory software
  • Valid Driver's License
