About the position

CACI is seeking a junior AI engineer to join our dynamic program that supports the Department of Defense's financial management processes and systems. This role is integral to an Agile scrum team that collaborates closely with clients to develop innovative solutions that enhance our nation's defense capabilities. The team is currently exploring the transformative potential of Generative AI to streamline complex data analysis, facilitate data exploration and retrieval, and provide end users with a more accessible means of accessing knowledge. This position presents an exciting opportunity to advance an early-stage Generative AI prototype into a production-grade solution tailored for the Department of Defense. The role is hybrid, requiring occasional reporting to our office in Chantilly, VA, and local residency is a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

  • Research various Large Language Model (LLM) domain adaptation techniques
  • Research and implement data preparation techniques to generate training data for fine-tuning
  • Research specialized LLMs for tasks, such as text-to-SQL and tabular data analysis
  • Perform LLM fine-tuning
  • Deploy and integrate LLMs into DoD business applications

Requirements

  • 0-2+ years of experience in data science, computer science or related field
  • University Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related Engineering discipline
  • Experience and demonstrable knowledge of Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models (e.g. LLM prompting, LangChain, etc.)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of machine learning techniques, such as linear regression, logistic regression, neural networks, support vector machines, anomaly detection, clustering and classification algorithms
  • Experience with Python and modern deep learning frameworks, such as Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe
  • Experience working autonomously and conducting independent research
  • Demonstrates a capability for flexible and resourceful thinking
  • Able and willing to learn new skills quickly
  • US Citizenship & ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance (Interim to start)

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrable understanding of full stack Software Development and all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
  • An understanding of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing AI applications
  • Web services and Web APIs (i.e., REST, GraphQL)
