About the position

JST is seeking a highly qualified Junior Analyst to provide subject matter expertise in statistical analysis and data management at the 711th Human Performance Wing, USAF School of Aerospace Medicine. This full-time role involves supporting Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Operational Support Team through various analytical tasks and data management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis of the impact of conditions identified during accession to the DAF on longer-term outcomes of interest to the DAF, such as duty performance and retention.
  • Assist in statistical analysis of existing datasets and creation of datasets for statistical analysis in SAS/EG.
  • Assist in the creation of useful stratification methods for the analysis of created datasets, based on ICD codes or other criteria.
  • Assist in the development of credible, theoretically driven statistical models exploring the relationship between variables identified in datasets within the AVHE environment.
  • Perform validation and verification protocols to ensure that the products of the study are performing as expected.
  • Assist in drafting written communication for internal and external purposes.
  • Participate as an expert in health statistics in interdisciplinary planning and analysis.
  • Acquire data access permissions necessary to perform stated tasks.
  • Use Air Force medical records systems and standards in the performance of job duties.
  • Collect data from various databases and establish relationships to existing datasets.
  • Provide conference support by preparing posters, presentations, and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Brief study findings at appropriate meetings or forums.
  • Provide technical automation support for MS Windows, MS Office, MS SQL, and Adobe.
  • Document computer code used for government personnel review and approval.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Operations Research.
  • Current HIPAA training certification.
  • Advanced analytical skills in statistics and study design and execution.
  • Expertise in descriptive statistics and SAS/SAS EG.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with statistics in a healthcare or military environment.
  • Signed NDA in place based on potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience within a health analytics-related field and working with Department of the Air Force (DAF) related data.
