About the position

Atelier New York Architecture is a dynamic architectural design firm located in New York City, known for its innovative approach and a diverse portfolio that includes private, commercial, and institutional projects. We are currently seeking a Junior Architectural Designer to join our team. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic design professional with a minimum of 2 years of experience who is eager to grow within our firm. The successful candidate will demonstrate self-initiative in completing tasks and meeting deadlines, as well as strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with managers and supervise staff. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full project lifecycle, from schematic design through to development and construction documents. Experience with residential projects is particularly encouraged, as it aligns with our firm's focus on a variety of project types. As a Junior Architectural Designer, you will be responsible for drafting and developing design proposals, assisting Project Managers with daily tasks related to ongoing projects, and preparing packages for submission to the Department of Buildings and the Landmark Preservation Commission. You will also conduct research on basic building codes and zoning regulations, collaborate with project teams, clients, and other consultants, and maintain organization across ongoing projects. Responsibilities

  • Draft and develop design proposals
  • Assist Project Managers with daily tasks relating to ongoing projects

  • Maintain organization of ongoing projects

Requirements

  • BARCH Degree in Architecture
  • 2 years minimum work experience (preferably in NYC)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) preferred
  • Basic Knowledge of building materials, components, and systems
  • Basic understanding of NYC Building Code and Zoning Regulations
  • NYC DOB Filing Representative ID and basic expediting experience a plus
