As a Junior Civil Engineer, you will play a vital role in our mission to create thriving communities and healthy cities. This position is available in a hybrid capacity at either our Irvine or Sacramento, California offices. You will be part of a collaborative team that provides award-winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design-build project delivery for a variety of federal projects. In this role, you will perform civil design calculations and prepare site and utility layouts while adhering to design standards. You will have the opportunity to coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians, reviewing and recommending necessary changes to drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and other engineers. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills and explore various aspects of civil engineering within our global company. As a key member of our team, you will be expected to perform non-routine and complex assignments based on verbal instructions, work closely with design originators and Project Managers, and remain flexible in your work and team assignments. You will also research and implement regulatory requirements and design standards, review drawings for completeness, and analyze sketches and notes to determine the best approach for developing designs with minimal supervision. Some travel may be required, including international travel, to support project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions
  • Work closely with design originator and Project Managers
  • Remain flexible in work assignments and team assignments
  • Research and implement regulatory requirements and design standards
  • Review drawings for completeness
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop designs with minimal supervision
  • Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians
  • Recommend required changes to drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and other engineers
  • Prepare civil design calculations and site and utility layouts

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least 2 years of experience on site development projects including project design
  • EIT obtained; FE exam passed is acceptable
  • United States Citizenship
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D design experience
  • Experience with Bluebeam software
