About the position

The Junior Data Engineering Analyst is a junior level position focused on the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems in collaboration with the Technology team. The role aims to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities, ensuring effective solutions are developed and implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts to identify and define necessary system enhancements.
  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, recommending programming solutions and supporting customer exposure systems.
  • Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.
  • Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, conducting testing and debugging.
  • Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts.
  • Identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgments to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Resolve issues by selecting solutions through acquired technical experience and guided by precedents.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, exercising independence of judgment and autonomy.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and team members.
  • Assess risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years working experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Strong background in financial reference data and capital markets.
  • Strong SQL knowledge for querying data, analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong data analysis and mapping skills.
  • College degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience.
  • Data-oriented with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience/understanding of business process reengineering and business modeling concepts.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, including experience in writing functional and technical specifications.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to be assertive.
  • Ability to focus on high-quality work under pressure.
  • Experience utilizing various SDLC methodologies like Waterfall and Agile (JIRA).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Testing Lifecycle including SIT, UAT, and Production.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with major vendor data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Markit).
  • Project lead experience.
  • Experience working closely with IT Project managers and development teams.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and Visio.
  • Experience with vendor product implementation.
