About the position

The Junior Data Governance Consultant will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and overseeing data governance strategies to enhance data quality, security, and regulatory compliance within the organization. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to foster a culture of accountability and trust in data, ensuring that data assets are organized, accessible, and safeguarded to support critical business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, data owners, business units, and compliance, to define and assign data stewardship roles.
  • Drive data quality initiatives, including data profiling, data cleansing, validation, and continuous improvement of data accuracy and consistency.
  • Establish and manage a data catalog, including metadata management, data lineage, and classification to improve data discoverability and usability.
  • Monitor compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and ensure that data handling practices meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance on data governance best practices and deliver training sessions to foster a culture of data stewardship.
  • Conduct data governance assessments and maturity evaluations, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of data governance frameworks and data management.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a consulting role.
