About the position

The Junior Depot Installer Technician role at RGNext involves assisting with the fabrication and installation of various cable assemblies and range equipment at Vandenberg Space Force Base. This position is crucial for supporting mission-critical systems that launch and track space rockets, contributing to national defense and space awareness. The technician will work in a dynamic environment, performing tasks that require both technical skills and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with fabrication of various types of cable assemblies, including coax, waveguide, multi-conductor cables, and network cables.
  • Assist with fiber optic installation, terminations, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Work from Shop Work Orders, understanding electronic, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Install under-floor/over-head cable trays, conduit, and fiber interduct.
  • Install various range equipment including antennas, equipment bays, relay racks, and consoles.
  • Assist with AC/DC power installations, modifications, and removals.
  • Climb and perform work from towers, platforms, ladders, scissor lifts, and man-lifts from heights up to 170'.
  • Complete assigned training in a timely manner to establish proficiency and qualification for mission support.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety, security, and timekeeping.
  • Perform other duties and cross-utilization as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Zero to two years of electronics experience and/or knowledge of basic electronic principles.
  • Ability to become proficient in reading schematics and logic circuitry diagrams.
  • Knowledge of solder techniques and application related to printed circuit boards, cable connectors, coax connectors, and chassis assemblies.
  • Proficiency with various connector crimpers, die inserts, and related stripping tools.
  • Knowledge of Environmental and OSHA Standards preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with test equipment, hand/power tools, forklifts, and portable man-lifts.
  • Ability to free climb towers to perform work.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sustain prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and repeated stooping.
