About the position

The Junior Python Developer at NV5 will assist data production teams by creating and updating scripts or software to enhance data processing workflows. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure technical requirements are met and solutions are delivered effectively. The position is ideal for someone looking to grow in a fast-paced environment focused on geospatial solutions.

Responsibilities

• Create and update existing scripts or tools to improve workflows.
• Maintain best practices such as adhering to style guidelines and leveraging version control systems.
• Act as the technical liaison in discussions with Project Managers and Product Owners, ensuring technical requirements are understood.
• Troubleshoot complex solutions for various geospatial applications.
• Apply software development lifecycle methodology to ensure quality solutions are designed and delivered.
• Attend standup meetings and address any issues that might impede team performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) or a related field, or equivalent 4 years of work experience.
• Experience with Python.
• 2+ years of professional developer experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with GitHub (branching and pull requests).
• Experience with distributed processing environments.
• Familiarity with geospatial processing libraries such as OGR, GDAL, Fiona, Rasterio, Shapely, scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, OpenCV, Dask, Matplotlib, Bokeh, pandas, GeoPandas, Laspy.
• Experience using ArcPy.
• Understanding of common Python data types and structures.
