Cardno GS, Inc.'s Charlottesville, Virginia Office is seeking a scientist or engineer with 2-5 years of experience to provide support on a variety of environmental and engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, documentation, compilation, and interpretation of project data for management review and subsequent incorporation into project documents. This role requires the ability to gather and organize project data, conduct analysis, prepare reports, and provide recommendations without assistance. The candidate will participate in a broad variety of civil/environmental engineering assignments, related to environmental permitting, remediation, compliance, stormwater management, site design, and more. Fieldwork, including soil and groundwater sampling, will also be a key component of the position. Additionally, the candidate will prepare supporting documentation and reports such as engineering calculations, regulatory compliance reports, SWPP Plans, SPCC Plans, Tier II Reports, and TRI Reports. A willingness to learn and adapt is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Collection, documentation, compilation, and interpretation of project data for management review and incorporation into project documents.

  • Participate in civil/environmental engineering assignments related to environmental permitting, remediation, compliance, stormwater management, and site design.

  • Prepare supporting documentation and reports such as engineering calculations, regulatory compliance reports, SWPP Plans, SPCC Plans, Tier II Reports, and TRI Reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental/civil engineering or related science degree.
  • 2-5 years of engineering consulting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to accept occasional short and long-term field assignments.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with civil and environmental engineering software applications (AutoCad, MathCad, HydroCad, ARCView GIS, etc.).
  • Eligibility for or possession of EIT certification and willingness to obtain Professional Engineering license when eligible.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate (with an up-to-date 8-hr annual refresher course certification) is desirable but not required.
  • Additional trainings and certifications related to the environmental field (e.g., Certified Asbestos Inspector).
