About the position

SynQor is seeking a Junior Field Applications Engineer to join our team in Boxborough, Massachusetts. This position is ideal for an electrical engineer who is passionate about power electronics and eager to learn. While familiarity with power electronics is preferred, we are open to candidates with a strong background in analog circuits who are willing to expand their knowledge in this area. The role involves providing technical support to our Quality and Reliability team, assisting in the creation of technical documents such as application notes, training materials, technical marketing materials, and product datasheets. Additionally, the engineer will perform lab testing to support customer inquiries and technical documentation, as well as design and validate evaluation boards and other test hardware. In this role, you will analyze power conversion technological problems and assist customers in selecting the appropriate power conversion solutions tailored to their specific requirements. You will advise customers on the operation of SynQor's power conversion solutions, reviewing their applications for validity and effectively communicating your findings. Preparing technical responses to customer inquiries will be a key responsibility, ensuring that customers understand how SynQor products can efficiently and reliably meet their power conversion needs. You will also troubleshoot system applications under the guidance of a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), following established guidelines and test procedures, and documenting the results obtained from testing. Moreover, you will assist the FAE in performing tests on products to establish compliance with industry standards and help prepare test reports that document product compliance with various industry requirements. Participation in seminars, conferences, and meetings to promote application engineering products and evaluate system performance will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot system applications under the direction of a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), following guidelines and test procedures outlined by the FAE in charge of the case, and aid in documenting the results obtained from testing.
  • Assist the FAE in performing tests on products to establish compliance with industry standards and help prepare test reports to document product compliance with different industry requirements.
  • Participate in seminars, conferences, and meetings to promote application engineering products and evaluate the performance and credibility of systems applications.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with analog circuits.
  • Product design experience in power conversion and electronics system design is desired.
  • Understanding of analog and power electronics is essential.
  • Familiarity with DC/DC, AC/DC, and DC/AC power converters is required.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and thermal performance parameters is necessary.
  • Ability to evaluate power circuit designs and apply analytical problem-solving skills is crucial.
  • Proficiency in operating various types of lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, and soldering equipment is required.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software is a plus.
  • Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as MathCad, Spice, Microcap, or Simplis is a plus.
