About the position

The Junior Financial Analyst will support the Comptroller at DARPA by assisting with budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis. This role is crucial in ensuring that DARPA's financial plans and forecasts are accurate and up-to-date. The analyst will be involved in the preparation and monitoring of the budget, which includes creating financial reports such as monthly, quarterly, and annual statements while ensuring compliance with federal regulations. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of the Department of Defense (DoD).

Responsibilities

  • Providing financial and/or accounting support to a Defense Advanced Research Project (DARPA).
  • Leading the execution of complex tasks and performing more complex analytical and evaluative work requiring a comprehensive knowledge of financial and management organization, operations, and practices.
  • Assisting program/project personnel with financial tracking, budget formulation, execution, and overall financial support.
  • Providing support with a variety of management activities, corporate initiatives, special projects, and data calls which could have a significant impact on the organization and its business operations.
  • Tracking and managing financial and other business transactions that cite DARPA funding.
  • Providing standard operating procedure, work instruction reviews, transaction and reconciliation support in managing and executing funding, which includes building MIPRs and PRs and using various reports to track commitments, obligations, and expenditures and perform reconciliation of funds.

Requirements

  • Secret Clearance
  • A BA Degree in Business, Management, Finance, or Accounting.
  • 1-3 years of general experience
  • 1-3 years of specialized financial or accounting experience in DoD policy.
  • Financial Management experience should include financial analysis of business programs, development of cost estimates, and program status reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD Federal Management Regulations (FMR), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and PPBE.
