About the position

The Junior Instructional Designer is a part-time role at Curry College, primarily responsible for supporting educational technology systems and collaborating with faculty to enhance online and in-person educational experiences. This position involves working with the Canvas Learning Management System and providing tier-one support for various educational technologies. The Junior Instructional Designer will also assist in the development and implementation of professional development programs for faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tier-one support for the Canvas Learning Management System and other educational technologies.
  • Train faculty in the use of instructional technology, including software like Respondus LockDown Browser, Panopto, Zoom, and Qualtrics.
  • Support innovative uses of technology in the curriculum and assist with new software implementation.
  • Incorporate accessibility guidelines in the training and implementation of educational technology.
  • Create and edit guide sheets and tutorials for faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop accessible teaching and learning environments.
  • Assist in the development of best-practice standards for online and in-person teaching strategies.
  • Gather and share data on center utilization and assist with event planning and execution.
  • Coordinate departmental communications and outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, technical writing, instructional technology, or information technology (preferred).
  • Experience troubleshooting and performing tier 1 technical support.
  • Demonstrable computing and technology skills with complex applications.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Experience with administration of LMS systems, preferably Canvas.
  • Working knowledge of AI and associated tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multimedia skills, such as video production and editing.
  • Project management skills and experience guiding interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience designing and delivering faculty development workshops.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to usability and accessibility (ADA Section 508).
  • Experience applying quality improvement processes to ensure content standardization.
