About the position

The Junior Instructional Designer will work collaboratively within an instructional design team to create engaging and effective learning content. This role emphasizes user-centered design, user experience (UX), and accessibility, aiming to develop a variety of instructional materials for both classroom and online environments. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and documentation of curricula while ensuring adherence to established guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an instructional design team under the supervision of a Senior Learning Solutions Designer and/or Project Manager.
  • Design, develop, and document instructor-led, paper-based, and responsive technology-delivered curricula and performance support solutions.
  • Participate in the development and review of products for adherence to style and storyboard guidelines, writing standards, course/task flow, and designing for standards such as SCORM conformance and Section 508 compliance.

Requirements

  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • 1 year of ISD experience
  • Bachelor's Degree

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design preferred
  • Experience in the full life cycle of the instructional systems design (ISD) process with experience in developing blended learning solutions that are Section 508-compliant and SCORM-conformant
  • Proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Section 508 requirements as applied to course design and development
  • Experience and working knowledge of at least one rapid development tool (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Presenter, Adobe Captivate)
  • Experience with design production tools (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Familiarity with concepts related to Communities of Practice and the application of social networking and online collaboration tools to learning
  • Experience serving Federal clients
  • Experience working in consulting firm environments
