About the position

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join our team at Design Squared. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about interior design to grow and develop their skills in a dynamic environment. As a Junior Interior Designer, you will assist designers in developing design concepts and space planning, creating detailed plans, millwork drawings, and renderings using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp. You will collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring that their vision is realized in the final design. In this role, you will be responsible for researching materials, products, and suppliers for design projects, supporting the selection of color schemes, furniture, lighting fixtures, and accessories. Your contributions will be vital to the overall success of projects from concept to completion. Additionally, you will participate in job site installations and conduct job site walks with clients and trades, which will require travel approximately 7-10 times a year. This position is ideal for someone looking to make a significant impact in the field of interior design while working closely with experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist designers in developing design concepts and space planning
  • Create detailed plans, millwork drawings, detailed drawings and renderings using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences
  • Research materials, products, and suppliers for design projects
  • Support in the selection of color schemes, furniture, lighting fixtures, and accessories
  • Contribute to the overall success of projects from concept to completion
  • Participate in job site installations and job site walks with clients and trades, requiring travel approximately 7-10 times a year

Requirements

  • Proficiency in drafting software is mandatory (AutoCAD and Revit preferred)
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost estimation
  • Selection and knowledge of applications of interior design materials (Tile, countertops, wood flooring, etc.)
  • Maintaining client and vendor relations
  • Experience in furnishing, art, soft goods and accessory selections/design is preferred, but not mandatory
