About the position

We are seeking a motivated Interior Design Assistant to join our boutique firm located in Woodmere, NY. As an integral part of our small team, you will play a crucial role in assisting our interior designers throughout all phases of the design process, from initial concept development to the final project completion. This position is ideal for someone who has a passion for interior design and possesses excellent organizational skills along with a keen eye for detail. You will be responsible for managing project schedules, ensuring that all milestones and deadlines are met, and coordinating effectively with clients, contractors, and vendors to facilitate smooth project execution. In this role, you will prepare and maintain essential project documentation, including specifications, schedules, and budgets. Your technical skills will be utilized as you create detailed drawings, floor plans, and elevations using AutoCAD, and you will also use Photoshop for rendering and presentation purposes. Additionally, you will be tasked with researching and sourcing materials, furnishings, and accessories for various projects, as well as assisting in placing orders, tracking deliveries, and managing inventory. Maintaining organized project files and sample libraries will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that all information is easily accessible and up-to-date. This full-time position offers a salary range of $60,000 to $75,000 per year, with a Monday to Friday work schedule. Responsibilities

  • Assist interior designers in all phases of the design process, from concept development to project completion.
  • Manage project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create floor plans, elevations, and detailed drawings.
  • Use Photoshop for rendering and presentation purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Interior Design Assistant or similar role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup and Adobe Photoshop is essential.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience creating proposals, invoices and POs in Studio Designer
  • Proficiency with Canva
