About the position

The Junior Interior Designer at Float Studio will support the interior design team in various phases of design projects, focusing on creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for commercial and retail environments. This role emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and effective communication within the project team to meet design goals and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior interior designer on all phases of design.
  • Provide both ad-hoc and project specific support to the interior design team.
  • Set up files and organization for new projects.
  • Provide material and product research, sourcing and vendor coordination.
  • Conduct site surveys and draft existing conditions in Revit.
  • Research and source finishes, fixtures and materials, generating fixture and finish schedules and placeholder budgets based on existing templates.
  • Upkeep material and resource library (digital & physical).
  • Gain familiarity with the firm's brand guidelines, resources, and standards.
  • Develop documents and design presentations for internal and client reviews (i.e. FF&E presentation, development of interior elevations, floor plans, furniture plans, concept documents).
  • Assist in design development process including plans, elevations, and custom furniture items.
  • Use Revit and related software to produce construction documents.
  • Develop and review detail drawings for construction plans.
  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project success.
  • Manage individual deliverables and workflow within larger project schedules and communicate any conflicts to the design team.

Requirements

  • BA in Interior Design or related field
  • 1-4 years relevant experience
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, and Bluebeam
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of standard office software (i.e. Google Suite, Slack, Zoom)
  • Legal authorization to work in the US

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AI software (i.e. midjourney) a plus but not required
