About the position

The Junior IT Systems Engineer at Intelligent Video Solutions (IVS) is a foundational role designed for motivated individuals eager to support IT operations and maintain infrastructure. This position offers hands-on experience in managing both Windows and Linux servers, cloud services, and virtualization technologies, while working closely with experienced IT professionals. The role emphasizes continuous learning and collaboration, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the company's video technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of Windows and Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Help manage cloud services on AWS, including EC2 and S3 instances.
  • Support our virtualization infrastructure using Hyper-V and VMWare.
  • Monitor and maintain system health using tools like CheckMK.
  • Assist in the configuration and management of Ubiquiti networking products.
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot security camera and access control systems, including Axis products.
  • Assist with the deployment and management of web servers (Apache and NGINX) for internal and external websites.
  • Set up IT equipment for new employees and provide onboarding support for IT systems.
  • Provide internal technical support to team members to solve technical problems and implement solutions.
  • Document processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration.
  • Conceptual understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V/VMWare).
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn about security systems and technologies (e.g., Axis security cameras).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with AWS services, particularly EC2 and S3.
  • Network administration knowledge, preferably with Ubiquiti products.
  • Familiarity with web server technologies, especially Apache and NGINX.
  • Basic experience with backup solutions like Veeam.
  • Any relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner) are a plus but not required.
