About the position

The Junior Jumpstart Program Manager at Spelman College is responsible for fostering relationships with students, academic partners, and employers to assist students in achieving their career goals. This role involves leading initiatives related to the college's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and providing career coaching and programming to enhance student preparedness for post-baccalaureate opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop trusting relationships with students to guide them in their career decision-making process.
  • Counsel students through self-assessments and assist with career research.
  • Mentor students on resume writing, job search strategies, and overall career skills development.
  • Collaborate with external partners to support student participation in career communities.
  • Create programming for junior students to enhance their career preparedness.
  • Partner with academic advisors and faculty to promote post-baccalaureate opportunities.
  • Utilize platforms like Porfolium, EAB Navigate, Smartsheet, and Handshake for student engagement and support.
  • Establish innovative digital content and educational materials through social media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring students.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing student processes.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
