About the position

The Junior Level Accountant at nou Systems, Inc. will be an integral part of the Business Operations Team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to a technology company that operates in various sectors including missile defense, cybersecurity, and biotechnology. The position involves supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring compliance with company policies while providing opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily accounting operations, including data entry, journal entry processing, and record maintenance
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Assist with processing travel expense reports
• Assist in the preparation of basic financial statements and reports
• Support budget tracking and financial forecasting activities
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Ensure compliance with company policies and assist with audit preparation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 1-3 years of professional accounting experience (internships and related work experience may be considered)
• U.S. citizenship is required

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Unanet ERP system
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Knowledge of government contracting and DCAA compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
