About the position

The Junior M&O - Project/Program Manager position at Safework involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects, particularly in the education sector. The role focuses on managing various aspects of project management, including liaising with different stakeholders, reviewing project proposals, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The position is integral to the success of construction and modernization projects for schools and administrative buildings, contributing to the overall mission of providing quality services to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, processing, and expediting construction projects.
  • Perform liaison duties among District Project Management Units, Maintenance and Operations Areas, Environmental Consultants, and Abatement contractors.
  • Review Requests for Assistance (RFAs) with technical staff and determine the scope of work.
  • Prepare funding request packages and coordinate with facilities accounting staff for project funding.
  • Plan projects, track job progress, and report actual labor charges.
  • Request and review cost proposals from environmental consultants for accuracy and viability.
  • Initiate and execute Asbestos Abatement and Lead Remediation contracts.
  • Coordinate and assist in scheduling lead and asbestos abatements prior to demolition and renovations.
  • Review contractor's submittals, daily logs, and certified payroll for invoice approval.
  • Check and analyze requests for alterations in scope of work plans and determine the validity of change orders.
  • Provide support to technical staff on project closeout and certification efforts.
  • Prepare requests and justifications for bid processing and monitor the contract award process.
  • Attend Job Start meetings to review safety requirements and document meeting minutes.

Requirements

  • Experience in project management, particularly in construction or education sectors.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to construction.
