About the position
The Junior Mechanical Designer at McKenney's Inc. will work collaboratively within a team under the guidance of a lead Designer to create accurate and coordinated mechanical system models. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with drafting standards and integrating mechanical systems with architectural and structural elements, while also providing support through accurate shop drawings for the construction team.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with project managers, project engineers, and field foremen during the design, coordination, and construction process.
- Manage requests for information and shop drawing progress using company tools.
- Model systems accurately in compliance with project plans, specifications, and code requirements.
- Utilize CAD standards to create consistent models that meet company and project requirements.
- Coordinate all systems with ductwork, mechanical equipment, and other trades.
- Produce fabrication documents such as spool sheets and drawings on time and within budget.
Requirements
- Experience with Mechanical drafting using Autodesk Fabrication CADmep software and Revit software.
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Basic PC experience in Windows environments, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and database software.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, architectural, and structural construction documents.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, or at least two years of experience with Autodesk modeling software, or at least 4 years of field experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Basic understanding of HVAC Mechanical piping systems.
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
- Self-starter with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
