About the position

As a Junior Mortgage Loan Officer at Stock Yards Bank and Trust, you will work closely with an experienced Mortgage Loan Officer to sell mortgage loan products. This role involves engaging with individuals, builders, realtors, and other groups to facilitate the mortgage application process. The position is designed to provide a professional environment for skill development and career advancement within the banking sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assist MLO with prequalification and maintaining relationships with borrowers to convert to applications.
  • Review initial applications for accuracy and completeness, run AUS, and review credit.
  • Complete disclosures and schedule initial disclosure appointments with borrowers as applicable.
  • Submit loans to setup within the appropriate time frame.
  • Assist with phone calls directed to the mortgage loan officer, directing calls or taking messages as applicable.
  • Place follow-up calls to customers on behalf of the loan officer.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain the loan officer's calendar.
  • Manage referrals in S@YB to other departments.
  • Work with processing and underwriting groups to ensure timely customer contact and condition handling.
  • Review pipeline and monitor the return of initial application documents and required documentation.
  • Contact individuals, realtors, and builders to expand network contacts and generate sales.
  • Engage in marketing and promotional activities to generate sales.
  • Consult with customers to compile loan applications in compliance with guidelines while negotiating terms and conditions.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze information for loan product approval acceptability.
  • Communicate with clients, answering questions and providing information from sale to closing.
  • Follow up closely with processors to ensure timely loan closures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FHA, VA, and conventional loan rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Banking or mortgage experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility with hours and duties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service or sales in a banking environment.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations.
