About the position

LTS is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support the design, testing, implementation, and turnover of network communications systems for the Department of Defense. The role focuses on improving overall network performance and enhancing user experience with responsive computing resources. The engineer will work on planning, designing, and evaluating multi-vendor computer network systems, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support to ensure network integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Draft technical requirements, engineering documents, configuration documents, training manuals, and troubleshooting processes as directed by the project team lead.
  • Participate in network solution development and design review processes, conduct prototyping, integration, testing, and certification of solutions in a lab environment.
  • Perform network discovery using automated tools to determine baseline configurations, including network topology, physical inventory, IP scope, and device configuration.
  • Work with other network engineers, customers, and cross-organizational teams to refine requirements.
  • Implement and integrate multi-vendor upgrades into environments such as Cisco, Juniper, HP, and Foundry.
  • Configure network hardware and software and install them according to approved design and implementation plans.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network hardware and software during the installation and implementation of new networks.
  • Monitor and maintain license subscriptions and maintenance agreements.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma and 3+ years' experience installing, configuring, and maintaining network equipment with thorough knowledge of routers and switches.
  • Must have a DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, both CONUS and OCONUS based on project needs.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution.
  • Experience with applying and documenting DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
  • Must be certified at IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, or other certification satisfying DoD 8570 certification requirements).
  • Associate Level Networking Certification (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA), or completed within 6 months from the date of start.
  • May require prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
