About the position

A Florida business law firm is seeking a Junior Paralegal to join their Miami team. The team represents business clients in all aspects of corporate, mergers & acquisitions, securities, real estate, financing, technology, aviation, wealth preservation, and tax matters. The Junior Paralegal for the BFT team is responsible for collaborating closely and providing legal support to attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants. This role is crucial in ensuring that the legal team operates efficiently and effectively, particularly in handling various legal documents and processes that are essential for the firm's operations. The Junior Paralegal will be involved in preparing and submitting matter opening forms, processing conflict checks, and preparing engagement letters. They will also create closing binders using Litera and save them in both PDF and paper formats if requested. The position requires typing, proofreading, formatting, and editing correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, agreements, and other legal documents under time-sensitive deadlines. Additionally, the Junior Paralegal will scan, save, and file documents from clients, other external sources, and internal sources into iManage, as well as prepare expense reimbursements. Interacting with attorneys and staff to gather necessary information to assist in the file opening process is also a key responsibility, along with providing support to legal assistants, paralegals, and attorneys, and working on other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit matter opening forms.

  • Create closing binders using Litera and save on PDF and paper if requested.
  • Type, proofread, format, and edit correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, agreements, and other legal documents under time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Provide support to legal assistants, paralegals, and attorneys.
  • Work on other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in related area.
  • At least three years of experience as a junior Paralegal in the area of commercial real estate.
  • Working experience doing conflict checks and engagement letters, preparing closing binders.
  • Knowledge of legal real estate terminology.
  • Working experience with Word, PDF Docs, Adobe Pro, Litera.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Proficiency in proofreading legal documents, redlining documents, saving different versions of documents into iManage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF Docs, Adobe Pro.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Litera preferred.
