About the position

The Junior Penetration Tester at Gunnison Consulting Group Inc is responsible for conducting security testing on various IT assets, web applications, and infrastructure technologies. This role involves developing and maintaining a repeatable methodology for security testing, performing vulnerability and risk analysis, and evaluating the effectiveness of security controls. The position requires a strong understanding of security frameworks and tools, as well as the ability to deliver comprehensive reports on testing outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security testing of IT assets, web applications, infrastructure assets, and technologies.
• Develop and maintain a repeatable methodology for performing security testing.
• Plan security tests including threat modeling and mapping business requirements to security requirements.
• Develop Security Test Plans and perform security testing, vulnerability analysis, and risk analysis.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of security controls in relation to applicable standards.
• Develop and maintain customized testing scripts for automation.
• Deliver reports on security testing results as required.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of experience in the information technology field.
• Knowledge and experience with manual host testing per CIS benchmarks.
• Knowledge of and experience with Nessus and OWASP Top 10.
• Some penetration testing experience required.
• Knowledge of NIST SPs and NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field preferred.
• Industry standard certification (e.g. Security+) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with tools such as Acunetix, Burp Suite, Appdetective, and DbVisualizer.
• Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols.
