About the position

Discover is seeking a Junior Product Manager who will play a crucial role in managing the strategy, roadmap, and goals for Digital Payments Core Technologies that support Digital Payments Products. This position involves collaborating with client-facing product managers and product owners to evaluate existing capabilities and identify desired enhancements. The Junior Product Manager will be responsible for creating strategic initiatives aimed at building multi-tenant technologies that meet partner expectations. Key areas of focus include network capabilities such as tokenization, de-tokenization, cryptograms, and token lookup services. In this role, the Junior Product Manager will assess the performance of new and existing product lines, shaping their structure and direction. They will develop and execute strategic product plans for key initiatives, including the introduction of new products, product line extensions, and enhancements. The position requires active management of risks and customer-impacting issues, ensuring that the team achieves specific goals for each product. This includes evaluating product performance and identifying innovations to address customer needs and improve market performance. The Junior Product Manager will also be responsible for identifying sources, monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting key product performance metrics, including financials and customer feedback trends. They will communicate findings and recommend performance improvements to support data-driven business decisions. Collaboration with vendors and cross-functional teams such as Sales, Operations, Legal, Marketing, Finance, and Technology is essential for the evaluation, development, management, and enhancement of assigned products and programs. Additionally, the Junior Product Manager will manage project scope, deliverables, and timelines within pre-set budgets, participate in Agile sprints, and support sales efforts or go-to-market strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the strategy, roadmap, and goals for Digital Payments Core Technologies.
  • Collaborate with client-facing product managers and product owners to evaluate existing and desired capabilities.
  • Create strategic initiatives to build multi-tenant technologies for Digital Product Families.
  • Assess the performance of new and existing product lines and shape their structure and direction.
  • Develop and execute strategic product plans for key initiatives such as new product introductions and enhancements.
  • Evaluate product performance and identify innovations to improve market performance.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret key product performance metrics and customer feedback trends.
  • Communicate findings and recommend performance improvements to support data-driven business decisions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams in the evaluation and enhancement of assigned products.

  • Participate in Agile sprints, planning, and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Information Technology, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration and Management, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Delivery/Commercialization, Project Management, Payments Industry, Financial Services, Marketing, or related.
  • In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in Card payments, network, acquiring, issuing, mobile technologies, digital payments, or related including Product Management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Information Technology, Communications, Marketing, or Business Administration and Management.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile methodology.
  • 2+ years of experience in Card payments, network, acquiring, issuing, mobile technologies, digital payments, financial services or related.
  • Experience in Core Payments, Fintech, Payments, or Financial Product Development.
  • Experience collaborating with internal stakeholders, including C-Suite.
  • Ability to pivot to new priorities in a fast-paced market.
  • Strong thought leadership/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, influence key stakeholders, and work across a matrixed environment.
