About the position

The Junior Property Accountant at Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC) is responsible for overseeing the financial activities of various community associations within a private, age-restricted community. This role involves performing accrual accounting procedures, maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the integrity of accounting information. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively, with a strong focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accrual accounting procedures for assigned Associations.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts.
  • Maintain general ledger, record deposits, and review invoices to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Perform variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.
  • Summarize financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Prepare for financial audits and coordinate the audit process, including reconciliations and reserve funding analysis.
  • Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.

Requirements

  • Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience with an Associates Degree or 1-2 years with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience within the property management sector is a plus.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and programs.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with community residents and outside organizations.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and auditing principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Excel and Word.
