About the position

The Junior QA Analyst position is a contract role based in Atlanta, GA, focused on maintaining and troubleshooting software applications and systems. The role involves driving QA planning, tracking, and reporting for projects, ensuring successful implementation of test strategies and plans for the Georgia Department of Transportation. The position requires collaboration with various teams to create and execute test plans, analyze results, and report issues, all while adhering to QA standards and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot computers, servers, peripherals, and applications under direct supervision.
  • Drive overall QA planning, tracking, and reporting for projects.
  • Create and document test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
  • Execute tests, analyze results, and report problems and anomalies.
  • Interact actively with various teams to understand business requirements.
  • Ensure software testing is completed on-time and notify management about bottlenecks and issues.
  • Assist business subject matter experts in developing UAT test scenarios.
  • Participate in defect triage meetings and demos.
  • Report weekly status to the Quality Assurance Testing Lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a similar field.
  • At least three years of experience with testing in software development projects.
  • Experience in mid-scale or large-scale system development projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to review and analyze system specifications.
  • Experience in manual and/or automated testing using supported tools.
  • Experience in documenting Requirement Traceability Matrices (RTM).
  • Ability to prepare sample data for testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mobile device testing is a plus.
  • Preferred experience in the public sector.
  • Preferred training or software testing certifications such as CSTE or CAST.
