About the position

The Junior Rotorcraft Safety Research Analyst position at ATAC involves supporting various aviation safety research efforts. This full-time role is part-time on-site at the FAA's William J. Hughes Technical Center and part-time remote. The successful candidate will engage in data analysis, support the development of innovative technologies, and contribute to improving aviation safety.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing flight and simulator video data and marking it at pre-developed safety events.
  • Downloading and copying data from test activities.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis including reviewing, classifying, and categorizing flight and simulation data.
  • Supporting the development of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and other related graphics.
  • Assisting in the development of websites and other project materials.
  • Supporting the development of heliports, flight procedures, and test scenarios.
  • Assisting in the set-up and use of helicopter and eVTOL flight simulators.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and use of eye-tracking tools.
  • Developing models and analytical tools using big data and high-performance computing tools.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field with 0-4 years of related job experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient at using office productivity software including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Knowledge/experience with Aviation operations.
  • Pilot experience/license.
