About the position

Peraton is seeking a Junior Software Developer to support Intelligence Community and DoD customers. This role involves working with emerging service and distributed computing technologies for satellite situational awareness data processing and distribution. The developer will contribute to the EMMETT program, a next-generation Space Domain Awareness system, by providing software development, analysis, and engineering services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide TS/SCI Java software development of modules, including event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception handling.
  • Perform TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services at the unit, module, and system levels.
  • Implement all aspects of software engineering support required to develop systems.
  • Adhere to open standards and modern software development methodologies, following industry best practices as operational requirements allow.
  • Prepare technical reports, white papers, and documentation to document findings of software engineering activities.

Requirements

  • An Associates degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; OR a Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional four years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree will be considered.
  • Possess a minimum clearance of TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customer's request.
  • Proficient in Java, including Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), and Data Access (DAO).
  • Experience with the Spring framework and JUnit test creation.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and REDIS.
  • Experience working with Linux distributions and command navigation.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
  • Understanding of web application basics like HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Gerrit/GIT.
  • Familiarity with Microservices, Containerization, and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python.
  • Familiar with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar.
  • Familiar with Bootstrap and Less.
  • Experience with NiFi, developing flows and process groups.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or working toward certification.
